How does thorium raise the melting point of tungsten?

According to wikipedia, Thorium’s melting point is 1842 degrees celcius
Tungsten’s melting point is 3422 degrees Celcius.
With this said, how does something with a LOWER melting point than the thing it’s being added to RAISE the other’s melting point???
it is like the combination of lead and tin to make the wide range of melting points for solder
