Greg V. playing a Tungsten Amp Crema Wheat 20 watt Tweed Deluxe with Fender Nocaster and Lava ELC cable. Visit http://www.gregv.us and please subscribe for more YouTube videos. The stock Fender Nocaster Tele is direct into the amp, no pedals were used. The voice mic picks up the ambient room sound and a small room reverb was added in post production.

Hi Jgmccormick,
Thank you! So many great amps have been made past/present so it’s impossible to pick only one. I just try to cast the right combination of “guitar-amp-effects” for the specific desired tone.

Great clip Greg! I was totally sold on the Swart AST head and now you do this! Even with video compression getting in the way, this amp sounds awesome. Hate to do it, but desert island…which one would you want to have? I imagine the Swarts are a little more versatile, no? No offense to the Tungsten. Again, great playing and awesome amp.

Thanks Singalls,
In general the Swarts have more of a upper midrange focus vs the classic 5E3 lower midrange focus. Swarts have the beautiful tube reverb and tube-bias tremolo as well. Both are killer amps for different textures and colors, I love them for my style and apporach…

Hi Vegasgrits,
Thank you! The Vic Double Deluxe is truly an amazing amp, massive sounding and plenty of headroom, plus the 2×12″ speakers have a very wide dispersion and volume. The basic tonality for both amps is classic 5E3 all the way, chewy, greasy mids and power tube grind. Speakers are different and that makes a big difference in overall, feel, response and tonal color. Both are wicked cool amps, if you need even more volume and headroom the Vic Double Deluxe can’t be beat.

straight I enjoyed that! -Greg, if you’re reading, how does this amp compare to your Vic Double Deluxe, both in terms of headroom and top end? -sounds to me like there’s a bit more treble available, though it’s hard to tell hoe much of that is tele. How’s it sound with buckers?
