PA-DVD-TOWNS – Townsville Tropical Gateway of the North

Townsville Shines…

…gleaming with tropical beaches, stately architecture and fabulous marinas. Townsville is the first stop in Nature’s theme park, housing the Great Barrier Reef Aquarium, The Town Common, The Billabong Sanctuary and the unique Palmetum.

Accessible from Townsville is the wilderness retreat of Magnetic Island with its breathtaking secluded bays and sun drenched beaches.

We take you to reminders of the booming gold rush era, to the towns of Charters Towers and Ravenswood, where examples of early Edwardian architecture preserve a golden past.

We explore the Wet Tropical Heritage areas of Hinchinbrook and the magnificent rainforests in the Mt. Spec National Park and the spectacular Wallaman Falls.

And there’s Ingham, with its Mediterranean heritage reflected in the lavish mausoleums.

In the surrounding region, scenting the tropical air, there are fields of waving sugar cane, ready for processing at the Victoria Mill, and ferried out to waiting ships via the amazing Lucinda Jetty.

Townsville shines…

…and is the glittering gateway of Australia’s Tropical North.
