If the law is the following what right do the Queensland police have to contact another countries embassy?

Are government organisations obliged to keep my information confidential?

Government organisations at both state and federal levels are obliged to keep your personal information confidential unless ordered by a court to produce it or your information is subpoenaed ie required as evidence in court.

The police have the same right as anyone else to contact anyone they like. There’s no law saying that because someone is a police officer, they are therefore not permitted to contact a foreign embassy.

Government organisations are required to keep certain information confidential. The extent of the obligation depends on which government organisation, and what type of information.

In Queensland, what is the maximum amount of persons allowed to stay in a property?

August 15, 2011 - 6:07 pm 3 Comments

In addition, what is the maximum amount of persons in Queensland allowed to live in:
A double storey house?
A house with a family?
A house with people who do not know each other?

1. You must submit an application to the Queensland Department of Local Government and Planning (DLGP) Human Occupancy Assessment Unit (HOAU) on the required form, including photographs (verified by a Justice of the Peace) of each room, and exact measurements of room height, width, depth and breadth.

2. The HOAU will then make an appointment with the owner/occupier for a site visit (this takes anywhere between 2 weeks and 6 weeks).

3. After reviewing the application, assessing the property and taking independent measurements, they will give the applicant a detailed breakdown of the number of permissable occupants in each room of the house at any one time (this even includes the number of people who can use a bathroom at any given point e.g. when getting ready for work in the mornings). They will also issue a permit after a 14 day period of public advertising in the Queensland Government Gazette.

4. In some cases, where a home owner or occupier has previously breached the terms of a previous permit, the HOAU (or any local authority who has raised an objection to the granting of your permit) may install CCTV cameras in each room of the house to monitor your compliance with the permit. This in-room surveillance happens more often in Brisbane than in the smaller townships.

5. The applicant and each intended occupant of the property in question is also required to undergo a formal police check.

Its quite simple really.

How long do you think it’ll take to clean up the flood in Australia and rebuild Queensland?

July 30, 2011 - 12:27 am 5 Comments

Remember the flood in Australia that flooded Queensland and killed quite a bit of people including a 13 years old boy named Jordon Rice. Well how long are you guessing it will take for them to clear the Australian flood and fix all of Queensland’s damages?

I think it will take well over 5 years to do so!

There is very little obvious damage anywhere now.

In January 2011 it was estimated that repairing and rebuilding Queensland’s flood-damaged infrastructure would take about two years and cost billions of dollars.

The Queensland Reconstruction Authority has powers to cut through bureaucratic red tape, which is a great help in getting things going, assuming it works.

Of the 92 state schools and 14 private schools that went under during the Brisbane floods, it appears that only 3 were not open in time for school terms starting at the end of January.

How much money will I need to backpack new south wales and queensland in australia?

July 22, 2011 - 1:45 pm 3 Comments

Me and my boyfriend want to travel around new south wales and queensland in australia for 6 weeks!! We are planning on doing it on our own (hopefully meeting people along the way) we have never done anything like this before and just wondering if anyone could give me some advice?? for example money, travel, accommodation ect. Like I said we are full on virgins at this :) so any help would be much appreciated! Thankyou!

Your big expense will be accommodation and that will cost you, if you hunt for the cheapest places, $25 to $50 a night. Add in food and transport and I would suggest you can’t do it for less than $100 a day each and probably more if you want to cover a lot of sightseeing, going out, souvenirs etc. If you want to be sure you have enough, I would suggest $150 a day. At $100 a day, you will need $4200 for the six weeks, $6300 at $150 a day. A compromise budget would be $5000 each if you don’t splash out too often.

You can reduce that by camping rather than staying in budget hotels and hostels but you can’t camp in the big cities.

What is the current situation in Brisbane and rest of Queensland after the flood and Cyclone attack?

May 13, 2011 - 1:13 pm 2 Comments

I have been roughly following news for the past few weeks and it hurts to know about Floods and Cyclone striking Queensland.
Can someone give me a clear update on the current news, rescue operations and anybody seen this happening themselves.

Though I come from different part of world from Asia,I would like to offer my prayers for people who died to RIP:(((.My heart feels very sad.

All those areas affected directly are in cleanup / recovery / rebuild mode but with the widespread nature of these events , it will take years not months before the joint is back to normal…..

i am going to be staying at unilodge at 108 margaret street in brisbane, queensland? Where is the nearest beach to there?

One of the artificial beaches at nearby Southbank just reopened yesterday after being closed since the January floods…..

If you’re looking for a real beach you need to head to Redcliffe to the north or the Gold Coast to the South …both about an hour away.
