How to get leaves off of rocks?

November 6, 2009 - 10:38 am 7 Comments

Our landlord covered the front and backyard in small rocks right before we moved into our house. Now, we have dried leaves and dried pine needles all over and cant figure out a way to get them up. We’ve tried a rake but it takes the rocks with it. We’ve tried a broom, which isnt effective either. Does anyone know any effective ways to get these leaves and needles picked up in our yard full of small rocks?

I used to help my mother-in-law for days with this chore and then one year there was a miracle–the leaf blower. Get one that both blows away and vacuums. You will be so glad you did.

Our new house had garden beds filled with rocks. I covered them all over with dirt and then mulch and then added bushes and flowers. You might consider doing the same if you hate your rocks as much as I did mine.

Use a leaf blower, blow them on your neighbor.

We use a hand held blower to help remove leaves and needles from our beds…Occasionally the rocks may blow out of the bed as well…however, once everything is on the sidewalk…if you stand back a little bit farther with the blower so as that is not as high powered…the debris will continue blow away from the rocks…then we just sweep up the rocks and put them back into the bed.

I use an electric leaf blower. Smaller rocks require a lower speed .

Go to Sears or other department stores and buy a combination leaf blower/vacuum. Be sure to read the instructions. Here are pictures:
