Are corn plants deadly to cats?
I purchased some indoor trees today and one happened to be a corn plant (dracaena massangeana). I bought this one on impulse without knowing anything about it.
When I got home I realized I should check the toxicity of this plant for my cat, especially considering he began nibbling on the Kentia Palm I bought about 4 minutes after I brought it indoors.
I’ve found conflicting results on the net. Some sites say it will cause vomiting and other gastrointestinal issues for cats and dogs, while some sites say it’s not toxic at all.
I really like the way this tree looks, but I certainly wouldn’t choose it over my cat. Does anyone know for sure either through first hand experience or because of profession?

It says yes it can be toxic to pets. Remember that the plant nurseries may also spray pesticides on their plants against bug infestations, which can be toxic to pets as well if they try to eat the leaves or flowers.

I am not sure, but it sounds like some of the things that are toxic. I bet you could keep the plant, but how big is it? If it’s small enough, you could just put it out of reach from your cat. Or put it in a room that your cat rarely goes in and then don’t allow him/her to go in that room…
