What tropical indoor plants are best for apartments?
I live in a 2 bedroom apartment in Canberra, I am looking for an indoor plant that looks good and is low maintenance.
It depends on your aspect – sunny / part shade / full shade and how much room you have.
For a part to full shade plant, how about a Philodendron like this: http://www.naturescolours.com.au/images/thumbs/Philodendron-Xanadu—Pot-size-17cm.jpg
Palms are always reliable indoor plants too, for sunny to part shade.
Medium size – dieffenbachia are lush looking http://www.google.com.au/search?q=dieffenbachia&hl=en&newwindow=1&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&biw=1252&bih=546&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=dJDETtS6PKOyiQepkLGWDg&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CA8Q_AUoAQ and can tolerate shade.
Maranta or prayer plant is a smaller tropical plant with beautifully patterned leaves.
Keith, the list is almost endless as most indoor plants are originally tropical, so it really depends on what you like the look of. Happy shopping!
In This video I show the various CFL Grow Lights that I have used the past few years and compare. They are all from local stores such as Menards and Home Depot. I mention the prices and light output for each. I also show hydroponic tomatoes that are a little over 2 weeks old. The largest bulb I show is the maximum length that the fixture can hnadle that I built in a previous video.
