What is the etiquette on giving Holiday gifts to hired help?

April 30, 2010 - 12:21 am 3 Comments

I am aware that giving a small Holiday gift to the mail carrier is not uncommon. My mother gives a $20 check to the mail lady each year. What about the gardener? We have a gardener that mows are lawn every week. Also, if you do give something to these people, what or how much?

Hi! This is a hard one. Each industry has a different standard. Some may restricted from taking cash – public employees (mail carrier, school teacher) or retail employee, but most are not. The answer about Emily Post etiquette is a great one. If you can’t afford what that recommends, even a card or homemade gift is greatly appreciated.

Following is a list of people you might want to consider when putting together a gift/tip list this year.

If I have 2 weeks in Queensland Australia, what are some things I should definitely see?

April 30, 2010 - 12:21 am 2 Comments

I may be heading back to austrlia to do more sightseeing in queensland. I have already been to cairns and seen the great barrier reef. I wouldn’t mind going back to cairns if anyone can suggest other things to do and see in Cairns. However, what other sights and places should I see in 2 weeks in queensland. I was thinking definitely Brisbane and Whitsundays.

HELP!

I would visit Brisbane, Whitsundays, Fraser Island, and Magnetic Island. Other great things to do around Cairns are Kuranda, Port Douglas and Daintree Rainforests.

What is the best beach and camping site in either South Carolina, Georgia or north Florida?

I only want to stay a couple days on the beach…I don’t have much money so I’m looking to just go to a campsite for a couple hours sleep. Was also planning on bringing a few beers to drink on the beach, but have noticed that some beaches don’t allow drinking…I just don’t know where to go!

You can go to Charleston South Carolina and stay at a Koa Kampground. You can either rent a cabn for $60 dollars a night or bring a tent for a much cheaper price. It is very close to Isle of Palms beach.

Whitsundays, Queensland

April 29, 2010 - 3:35 pm 4 Comments

In the heart of Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef, lie the Whitsundays, 74 islands floating like jewels in the tropical warm waters of the Coral Sea. Discovering the Great Barrier Reef is one of life’s must-dos and it’s easily accessible from Queensland’s mainland coast at Airlie Beach or directly from the islands. It is a cosmopolitan and vibrant town filled with palm-fringed beaches, waterfront parks and alfresco dining restaurants.

The best way to fully explore this lovely region is from the bow of a sailboat…cruise through the islands and drop anchor for a quick snorkel and fall asleep at night to the gentle rocking of the waves under a canopy of stars. Spend the day exploring the pure white silica sands of Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet from one of the world’s most exquisite lookouts, or enjoy the views of the reef from the cockpit of a seaplane. Paddle a sea kayak gracefully through the water, follow bushwalking trails overlooking the Coral Sea or simply relax with a cocktail by the pool.

You’ve got over 74 unique experiences at your fingertips.
