What holiday is most exploited to convert people to Christianity?

December 30, 2009 - 5:43 pm 8 Comments

Many people exploit a holiday to evangelize Christianity. An example is Christmas was mainly a pagan holiday to celebrate the winter solstice but was turned into supposed day to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Easter is used to spread the idea a man rose from the dead who is the supposed savior.

So what do you think is the main holiday used/exploited to convert people to Christianity?

Provide your insight to this.

There are so many they have dipped they’re hands into and claimed as Christian when in fact they simply adopted our Pagan holidays and warped them into an agenda that fit their needs to convert so that Christianity doesn’t die out and the old ways come back.

Edit: _spanish…, If you knew your history you would know that Paganism was here long, long before Christianity! You should read up on history before making a statement that flimsy.

What is the best software for network performance monitoring?

December 30, 2009 - 5:43 pm 1 Comment

What software is considered the best for total network performance monitoring. I am in search of a software that will monitor our switches, routers, firewalls, and the overall performance of our network. This is a network running Win 03 as the OS, and has around 60-80 servers. Any suggestions? What are the pros and cons of such software?

Lots of commercial products will do this. But they tend to be expensive to buy and expensive to scale because of licensing.

Look into an open source solution. Try the link below:

How do I set up a tropical fish tank?

December 30, 2009 - 5:43 pm 3 Comments

I would like to set up my first tropical fish tank, as I have been looking after the one we have in work for about 6 months now and absolutely love them so much I want my own to look after at home :) I’d like some advice from seasoned fish keepers on the best way to set up my tank, any tips and better ways to do things that you’ve picked up in your experience?

Thanks!

The single most important point I think is for you to understand the nitrogen cycle of the tank and what it will mean tot he first few weeks of the tank. Instead of typeing all day, I’ would like to refer you to the link below. On the opening page and for a few pages after it will cover the basics you’ll need to get started. It’s well wortht he read and you will be very glad you did!

Flooding in the Queensland Granite Belt destroyed thousands of hectares of grapevines?

December 30, 2009 - 5:43 pm 1 Comment

Flooding in the Queensland Granite Belt destroyed thousands of hectares of grapevines.
a)Vineyard owners whose vines were destroyed by the floods were much worse off, but those whose vines were not destroyed benefited from the floods. Why?
b)What information would you need about the market for wine in order to asses whether vineyard owners as a group were hurt or helped by the floods?

a) Vineyard owners whose vines were destroyed by the floods were much worse off, but those whose vines were not destroyed benefited from the floods. Why?
A sizable number of vineyards got destroyed, and hence the supply of grapes got reduced. An exogenous reduction of grape supply will cause the price of grapes to rise. The owners who kept their vineyard will benefit therefore from higher prices.

b) What information would you need about the market for wine in order to asses whether vineyard owners as a group were hurt or helped by the floods?
It depends on how open the wine market is to exports: If the market is many a domestic one, it is possible that the owners of destoyed vineyards suffer (but may be in part compensated by insurance and/or the government) while the owners of surviving vineyards benefit from higher prices. Hence, in the absence of exports, vineyard owners as a group could benefit (will be helped by the floods).

If the wine market is open to exports, owners of surviving vineyards won’t be able to raise prices because of the international competition. Since they are not better off, while the owners of destroyed vineyards are worse off, owners as a group will be hurt.

Can tungsten be used to coat a geospherical drill?

December 30, 2009 - 5:43 pm 2 Comments

…most drills used to bore into the earths crust are coated in iron, so that they do not collapse from the pressure or melt from the heat. Now tungsten is a metal with a higher melting point than iron, so could it replace it as a coating for the drills, and be more effective?

most deep drill bits are made from either specially hardened steel or are tungsten-carbide coated.

No one has really come close to drilling at a depth where a molten drill bit would be an issue.
