What software do I need to install in my laptop in order to gain access to encrypted wireless networks?

November 24, 2009 - 1:06 am 3 Comments

I need to gain internet access from various locations which do not have any wireless networks which are accessible by someone who does not have the password. My brother in law said there is a software I can install which will allow me to bypass the encryption password. Also, can you tell me where I might be able to download this software?
Thank you!

The software he is refering to is a completed one that is expensive. It is also very ILLEGAL. It’s called Hack-in-the-Box (one of many).
If you do decide to use it & you get caught (a very easy task, much easier than hacking) believe me, the penalties are very severe. Hacking (which is what you’ll be doing) is considered a very serious crime. Depending on what the network has on it or what you say or do, it could be considered a terroristic threat.
Don’t go there. Penalties are too severe.

Is it safe to feed tropical fish flake food to goldfishes?

November 24, 2009 - 1:06 am 5 Comments

Ok, so i made a dumb mistake of buying tropical fish flake food instead of goldfish flake food because I was careless of seeing what kind it was in the package. I wasted money on it and i don’t know what to do with it. Is it safe to feed it to my goldfishes anyway?

Definitely. We had tropical fish in our tank with the goldfish and they all got the same food. We bought the tropical flakes to help bring out their colors. Didn’t seem to do that for the goldfish, but they ate it, loved it and survived. Next time, though, just get regular fish flakes since they are a bit less expensive.

How long will the rain last in Queensland???

November 24, 2009 - 1:06 am 5 Comments

I’m going to Queensland on 21 Feb, picking up a camper in Cairns and travelling down the east coat to Brisbane, stopping off at Fraser Island and the Whitsundays. I’ve been checking the weather recently and the forcasts seem to be horrendous with many floods and constant rain. I’m really worried now that this weather isn’t going to ease before our trip and our travel plans will be ruined.

Can anyone offer any light and sunshine at my rainy tunnel??

Some friends just came back from a fortnight in Qld with two kids under five.

It rained every day, but it was still warm and they did get some swimming in.

And there are lots of attractions to see and visit.

Don’t want to predict no rain (especially not during a drought, lol) BUT hope you have a great holiday anyway!

Cheers :-)

Anyone ever tried those indoor herb growing kits with lamps?

November 24, 2009 - 1:06 am 2 Comments

Has anyone ever tried those indoor herb growing kits (as seen on t.v.)), with the grow lights/lamps? Especially that new one? if so, how did it work for you? Did it grow things well? What else besides just herbs did you try growing in them?

I am a really good gardener, and have at least 50 houseplants, but I had no luck with the herb garden contraption. . . I think the seeds weren’t very good, but I took the pots with the holder, and have different cacti growing in them and it looks awesome :) Well worth the money just for the display IMO. . . GL!!!!

What is the best beach to take children to in Hawaii?

November 24, 2009 - 1:06 am 3 Comments

We are planning a trip to Hawaii soon, we aren’t sure which island or beach to go to. We are a family with a toddler and really aren’t interested in going to a party area, we just want a family area that has resteraunts and family entertainment nearby. What is the best area for famalies who are visiting Hawaii, and which island would be best.

I think Waikiki would be a good location, as there are many child friendly things to do & see on Oahu. We have a decent zoo & aquarium, a children’s museum, & good beaches for little ones. Ala Moana & Magic Island are both near Waikiki & are very safe. There are several places where you can explore tide pools, which most children find fascinating. There are some in the Makapuu/Waimanalo area & others on the north shore. For older children, there are lots of other things, so I wouldn’t recommend the water park, but for toddlers, there are not quite so many age appropriate things to do. So for them, I would suggest the water park in Kapolei, which has an area set aside for the little ones.

Hope you have a wonderful vacation!

If a frost kills the new leaves on a tree at the beginning of spring, will the leaves grow back this season?

November 24, 2009 - 1:06 am 4 Comments

We have several oaks that look like they are still in the middle of winter after an early spring frost while the rest of the trees (magnolia, maple, dogwoods, etc. still have bright green leaves.

Will the oak leaves grow back this year?

Yes, proof in my front yard, as we speak. First week of April, heavy freeze one Sat. night here in Columbia,SC zapped leaves of Crepe Myrtle to winter-brown. Looking out there now, green foliage is coming back!

How do you get the best value accommodation in Fiji?

November 21, 2009 - 5:36 pm 2 Comments

I’m going to Fiji in June and I heard from a friend that if you leave accommodation until you arrive in Nadi then you can get walk-in bookings in decent bures on the outer islands for much cheaper prices! Is this worth the risk or am I best off booking as soon as possible? All I want is a peaceful beach!

I have also been to Fiji.I think you will find it cheaper to get a deal with flights etc.Air fare can be expensive on its own.The resorts are isolated away from the capitol so transfers can also be a problem.
I would try these sites for last minute deals and also packages.
www.expedia,com.au
www.wotif.com.au
Also try www.jetstar.com.au
www.virginblue.com.au
and also
www.qantas.com.au
as these sites also have deals.
If you were going USA or NZ I would say good chance ,but Fiji seems a little more complex to do it yourself.
I could be wrong somebody may have better info.
Also the Sunday papers have always got full page spreads for cheap deals to Fiji in their travel sections.

On Tuesday, September 26, TSA adjusted the ban on liquids, gels, and aerosols.

Air travelers may now carry liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry-on bag when going through security checkpoints.

With certain exceptions for prescription and over-the-counter medicines, baby formula and breast milk, and other essential liquids, gels, and aerosols, the following rules apply to all liquids, gels, and aerosols you want to carry through a security checkpoint.

1. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.
2. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.
3. Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items.

Please keep in mind that these rules were developed after extensive research and understanding of current threats. They are intended to help air travelers bring essential toiletries and other liquids, gels and aerosols for short trips. If you need larger amounts of liquids, gels and aerosols such as toothpaste or shampoo, please place them in your luggage and check them with your airline.

To ensure the health and welfare of certain air travelers there are no limits on the amounts of the following liquids, gels and aerosols you may carry through a security checkpoint:

* Baby formula and breast milk if a baby or small child is traveling;
* All prescription and over-the-counter medications (liquids, gels, and aerosols) including KY jelly, eye drops, and saline solution for medical purposes;
* Liquids including water, juice, or liquid nutrition or gels for passengers with a disability or medical condition;
* Life-support and life-sustaining liquids such as bone marrow, blood products, and transplant organs;
* Items used to augment the body for medical or cosmetic reasons such as mastectomy products, prosthetic breasts, bras or shells containing gels, saline solution, or other liquids; and,
* Gels or frozen liquids needed to cool disability or medically related items used by persons with disabilities or medical conditions.

You are not limited in the amount or volume of these above items you may bring in your carry-on baggage. However, if these items are in containers larger than three ounces, please perform the following:

1. Separate these items from the liquids, gels, and aerosols in your quart-size and zip-top bag.
2. Declare you have the items to one of our Security Officers at the security checkpoint.
3. Present these items for additional inspection once reaching the X-ray. These items are subject to additional screening.

We have also taken steps to ensure the security of the boarding areas after you pass through our security checkpoints. Therefore, any liquid, gel or aerosol, such as coffee or soda, purchased in the secure area beyond the security checkpoint is allowed aboard your plane. Please note that if you have a layover and are re-screened at your connecting airport the current rules (see above) for carry-ons apply. For more details, get the 3-1-1 for carry-ons.

A printable version of the prohibited items listing is available. Prohibited Items List (PDF 164 KB)

To effectively communicate important security information, we translated these changes into a variety of languages. Security Information In Other Languages

You are permitted to bring solid cosmetics and personal hygiene items as such lipstick, lip balm and similar solids.

We ask for your cooperation in the screening process by being prepared before you arrive. We also ask that you follow the guidelines above and try not to over-think these guidelines. Please pack liquids, gels, and aerosols in your checked baggage even if you do not normally check a bag.

In addition to liquids, gels, and aerosols numerous other potentially dangerous items are not permitted in carry-on baggage. We strongly encourage travelers to read more about previously prohibited items to avoid complications during screening.
