Edith Piaf – Autumn Leaves (Les Feuilles Mortes)

October 28, 2009 - 12:31 am 25 Comments

The falling leaves
Drift by the window
The autumn leaves
All red and gold
I see your lips
The summer kisses
The sunburned hands
I used to hold.

Since you went away
The days grow long…
And soon I’ll hear
Old winter songs
But I miss you most of all
My darling, when autumn leaves start to fall…

C’est un chanson
Qui nous ressemble
Toi qui m’aimais
Et je t’aimais
Nous vivions tous les deux ensemble
Tou qui m’aimais
Moi qui t’aimais

Mais la vie sépare
Ceux qui s’aiment
Tout doucement
Sans faire de bruit
Et la mer efface sur le sable
Les pas des amants désunis.

Since you went away
The days grow long…
And soon I’ll hear
Old winter songs
But I miss you most of all
My darling, when autumn leaves start to fall…

What is a nice beach casual outfit for my son to wear to my beach wedding?

October 28, 2009 - 12:14 am 1 Comment

I am having a beach wedding. My son will be 23 months. I want him to wear Khaki pants, I want a nice white linen shirt/ or pants for it. I want him to look hansom, anyone have any ideas or examples from weddings they have been to?

Seersucker is a traditional comfortable woven fabric used for beach weddings. A navy jacket and khaki pants with a white button shirt is another great look for a beach wedding.

If there is an H&M department store in your area carrying the children’s line, you might check that out. GapKids and Old Navy also have good beachy stuff for kids.

Does anybody know where to get tungsten ingots?

October 28, 2009 - 12:14 am 1 Comment

I need a fairly large (about a cubic inch) sample of tungsten cheaply (less than $10) and quickly for a presentation on Tuesday. I’m not to picky on shape or look, but it has to be nearly pure and have a flat surface to strike against. But largish chunks are fine too.

odds are your not going to find it for that cheap.

How many leaves does your orchid grow in between growing spikes?

October 28, 2009 - 12:14 am 1 Comment

My flowers died and fell off back in the end of June, early July, and I’m just wondering how many leaves will grow in between that spike and a new one. I don’t have a new spike yet, I’m just anxious. I have a Phalaenopsis if that sheds any light. So far, my orchid has grown one leaf, and another is growing pretty quickly too.

It actually doesn’t matter because my orchid once had none and it still flowered. As long as you take good care of it and give it proper nutrients it will eventually flower. Oh and one thing don’t listen to the bag that says give 1tablespoon per gallon a month, do small feedings at least once a week. Also if the it finished flowering, leave it, it could re-flower on another spike.
Best of Luck!

What sort of jobs also provide accommodation?

October 25, 2009 - 11:20 pm 2 Comments

What sort of jobs can you get that also provide accommodation?
Thanks in advance.

Jobs that provide acommodation are rare these days, but you might be lucky to come accross one if you’re willing to be paitent and look hard. Some areas you might have luck in:

*Hotel, b ‘n’ b and pub type jobs.

*Large care homes will sometimes offer accomodation to tempt foreign workers

*Housekeeper/Gardening jobs sometimes offer accommodation. A good place to find lots of these jobs is "The Lady" magazine which comes out weekly.

*You could consider becoming a live in home care-worker or support worker. If you’re lucky you may be provided with a seperate flat nearby, or your own section of a large house. But you may just have a room in a shared house so you would need to consider seriously if you could handle working with somebody full time and sharing your personal space with them too. Live-in care jobs can be very well paid with the right company.

*Some jobs that involve horse/animal care, the employer will often offer accomodation, especially if its in a rural area.

Good luck.

Please recommend accommodation in Copenhagen, for the climate change conference in December 2009?

October 25, 2009 - 11:20 pm 2 Comments

Hoping someone can help, as I do not know the layout of the city.

I need to find accommodation for someone to attend the Copenhagen Climate Change conference, in December 2009.

Hotel needs to be of business class standard, reasonably priced, and well-located for the conference.

Also, the person will be assisting with a group of students staying at the new Dan Hostel, so it needs to be within walking distance of this, and the City Hall.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try this link – it wil indicate the area that you are looking for, and give some links to hotels.

This hotel (below) would be the one i prefer and use:

Perfect location, international standard business class hotel

If SAS Royal is booked, my next choice is always this:

How much return on renting a luxury holiday home in Cornwall ?

October 25, 2009 - 11:20 pm 3 Comments

I’m thinking of buying a luxury holiday home in Cornwall set on a Woodland Estate. The aim is to live there for about 3 months a year and rent it out for the rest of the year. What sort of percentage return on my investment would be deemed "good" ?

You will find that ground rent, maintenance, and cleaning charges take a lot out of rental income received.
