What is the best way to seek accommodation when looking for employment?

September 28, 2009 - 12:15 am 2 Comments

I am disabled and require a little accommodation when working. However, I’m afraid that I will be passed over for prospective jobs if I mention my disability. I know they cannot "legally" pass me over for having a disability, but they can always say they found a "more qualified" applicant.

Any advice?

If your "Positive-Eager Nature" outshines your Minor Disability, and Above that.. your Low- Self Esteem about your Disability, YOU WILL get "Hired" at once! Remember this always: A Company Lives or Dies by Revenue! Your Minor Disability as you Put-it, Means that a company has to spend a few pennies on something to "Aid" you while you ARE on The Job…. But, your "Positive Qualities" ARE Making 100′s of Dollars or 1000′s A Day, five days a week! See what I mean? This company spent a few pennies of theirs and on your Future to make Revenue: Positive Revenue! Oh yes, The BEST Part IS this company knows that they One-Up’d their "Competition" by seeing YOUR FULL-POTENTIAL, and Hired you, so they ARE More Secure in their Industry! Follow Me again??? Image– Says It All! Any Fool will tell ya that they’d spend a Nickel to make $5000.00 any day of the week! Why won’t you? THERE IS So Much More To YOU, than your Disability; Let those Qualities out-shine your minor disabilty! When YOU Produce at anything… We All Prosper! I’ll take The Prosperity; and I WANT you to do the same for all of us, Ok? Good-luck…

During the busy holiday season, what is your strategy for keeping your home guest-ready?

September 28, 2009 - 12:15 am 50 Comments

Keeping a clean home during the hectic holiday season can be a challenge – especially with the additional details to deal with, like gingerbread cookies on the floor, holiday decor that needs constant dusting, and guests dropping in at the last minute. How do you keep your home clean during this busy time?

- Every night, tidy up your kitchen or the room that guests will mainly be in.
- Get lots of store-bought holiday cookies and store them in a hidden place in your pantry. Save them for times when guests stop in; all you have to do is put them on a fancy plate and you have snacks in a flash!
- Instead of lots of holiday decor in need of dusting, keep it simple. Use holiday napkins, plates, and display only one main holiday centerpiece, like a cute wooden snowman or Santa – it will be easy to dust quickly and will ensure that you don’t go overboard with decorations. It will look very simple and classic.
- Use scented candles in your home. Nothing is more welcoming than stepping into a house that smells like cinnamon, peppermint, or pumpkin pie. The scent of your house instantly says effort, and candles are relatively low maintenance. This will also add to your decor.
- Keep a dust-buster, lint-roller, or a Swiffer mop handy in a drawer or cabinet downstairs so you can immediately clean up cookie crumbs and messes. In the same cabinet/drawer, you should also store paper towels and other clean up supplies.
- Start a habit (if you haven’t already) of putting dishes in the dishwasher and not leaving them out all day, throwing dirty clothes in the hamper, and cleaning up after yourself. If you already do, talk to your kids and have them do the same; your house will look a lot nicer without dishes stacked in the sink and a pile of clothes all over the floor.

Good luck & happy holidays!

What software can you use to record a video with a webcam?

September 28, 2009 - 12:15 am 3 Comments

I have a Logitech webcam and have tried using the software that came with it. The problem is, the Logitech software screws up settings in other software I use.

Is there a third-party software program out there that anyone can recommend?

Thanks!

What is the difference between a tropical storm and a sub tropical storm?

September 28, 2009 - 12:15 am 4 Comments

I was just watching the weather channel and they already have andrea in the atlantic ocean? They said it is a sub tropical storm. And i read the water has to be warm for tropical storms to form, the water temp is in the upper 50s and lower 60s. How is this even possible.

A tropical storm is an organized system of strong thunderstorms with a defined surface circulation and maximum sustained winds between 17 and 32 m/s (34–63 kt, 39–73 mph, or 62–117 km/h). At this point, the distinctive cyclonic shape starts to develop, although an eye is not usually present. Government weather services, other than the Philippines, first assign names to systems that reach this intensity (thus the term named storm).[

A subtropical cyclone is a weather system that has some characteristics of a tropical cyclone and some characteristics of an extratropical cyclone. They can form in a wide band of latitude, from the equator to 50°.
These storms can have maximum winds extending further from the centre than in a purely tropical cyclone. The maximum recorded wind speed for a subtropical storm is 33 m/s (119 km/h, 65 knots, or 74 mph), also the minimum for a hurricane. In the Atlantic Basin, the United States NOAA classifies subtropical cyclones similar to their tropical cousins, based on maximum sustained surface winds. Those with winds below 18 m/s, 65 km/h, 35 kts, or 39 MPH are called subtropical depressions, while those at or above this velocity are referred to as subtropical storms.[3]

Subtropical cyclones are also more likely than tropical cyclones to form outside of a region’s designated hurricane season. Subtropical Storm Ana (which became Tropical Storm Ana) in mid-April of the 2003 hurricane season is such a case.

I live in Queensland Australia where we do not have the winters you do, would you move to a snow-less area?

September 28, 2009 - 12:15 am 11 Comments

Although in southern Australia they do have snow season it is not to the extent like in other countries with snow chains, digging snow of pathways etc. Many people in southern Australia in their senior years make the move up to Queensland to get away from the cold. Would you or are you planning to. Or is it just a fantastic time of the year for some.

dominica – That sound so good to be warm in the winter.

We had our first bit of snow and my hubby has the snow plow ready.

I keep my electric throw to keep me warm and layer my clothing.

I do love the four seasons, but I also envy your climate and living close to the ocean.

How long can most indoor cats live to be?

September 28, 2009 - 12:15 am 21 Comments

I have a 3 year old Himalayan and my husband and I love her sooo much! We don’t have any children so she’s our baby. We take good care of her, take her to the vet regularly, keep her up to date on her shots, and do everything we can to make sure she stays healthy. She’s strictly an indoor cat, although sometimes I take her outside on a leash in the summer and let her walk around our backyard.

We were wondering how long indoor cats can expect to live?

Ours lived to be 19, but I’ve heard of some breed living to be in their 30′s!

How far is the nearest beach resort to Genoa?

September 28, 2009 - 12:15 am 2 Comments

I am planning to go on a holiday to the Italian Riviera. All flights go to Genoa, so I was wondering what is the nearest beach resort to Genoa, as I know it is a port city and there are no beaches there. And how do I get to that nearest beach? Although not being the nearest I actually had San Remo in mind. Please advise. Thank you.

Do platinum and Tungsten work well together in a ring?

September 28, 2009 - 12:15 am 1 Comment

I have been looking online at Men’s wedding bands. I’m interested in something Made of Tungsten, but with platinum included.

It appears online that there are several choices available, but every jewelry store (I’ve visited more than 10 now) tell me that the metals don’t work well together and thus are not used together in jewelry.

Anyone have any clear answers and a good source?

They’re both on the flat side – they don’t shine well. They’ve been industrial metals for years. They’ve become popular in jewelry lately because they’ve become very expensive. Silver and gold both are much shinier.

I don’t know why they aren’t used together, but they are very similar in appearance, so you may not get the desired impact.

How come the leaves on my banana plant are not opening after 6 months?

September 28, 2009 - 12:15 am 2 Comments

It’s a type of banana plant that I bought at Home Depot (they call it a palm), and I have it indoors. It’s the common large indoor "palm" you see for sale. It grows single large leaves that sprout from the base. It’s grown and opened 5-6 new leaves just fine, but the 3 newest and largest leaves (the oldest of those 3 being 6 months old) are not opening, but are just remaining coiled up. What can I do to stimulate them to open?

First of all it sounds like a palm and not a Musa "banana" plant. if it has a rizome it might be a banana plant but if it has a regular root system its probably a palm tree. as for not opening that could be several issues, light, water, pot bound, ect. also some plants stop growing in winter and it might just not have started yet.
